Iron Gate Helps Celebrate the Inauguration of Elon University President Connie Ledoux Book
On Friday, October 19th, the festivities at Iron Gate were particularly notable. On that afternoon we hosted the extended family of the newly inaugurated president of Elon University. (www.elon.edu)
The university’s Board of Trustees planned a wide variety of celebratory events surrounding the October 18th inauguration. Elon Univeristy marked a milestone in its 129-year history with the inauguration of its ninth president, Connie Ledoux Book. We at the winery were struck by how fitting it was to host the family of the first woman president of Elon on the site of a woman-owned winery, and one where that owner is also the winemaker.
Following our luncheon event, many of the family members chose to tour the Conservators’ Center in Mebane and visit our resident wild animal population close-up. All in all, a wonderful day filled with good cheer.
